From Wikipedia (HERE) (because they do it best):
A virtual private server (VPS) is a virtual machine sold as a service by an Internet hosting service.
A VPS runs its own copy of an operating system (OS), and customers may have superuser-level access to that operating system instance, so they can install almost any software that runs on that OS. For many purposes they are functionally equivalent to a dedicated physical server, and being software-defined, are able to be much more easily created and configured. They are priced much lower than an equivalent physical server. However, as they share the underlying physical hardware with other VPSs, performance may be lower, depending on the workload of any other executing virtual machines.
Westlinks Online provisions VPS hosts exclusively (as opposed to dedicated or shared hosts) because VPSs make the most sense for our product offerings. If for some reason you would like to have your services hosted on a dedicated server, we could do that for you at an additional cost. Please ask!
Although we would hate to see you leave, we provide daily backups of your entire website including the database content. Using that, you can re-install your site on any other server. Your services will stop at the end of the current period and you will owe no further charges.
We take all major credit cards. If you choose to purchase monthly hosting from us, we use recurring billing which automatically deducts the charge each month. We have no long term contacts so you can cancel any time.
Here's the basic workflow:
Please note that most of our services are best configured with a domain name which we also provide. If you have an existing domain name, no problem, we can configure DNS so your domain points to your new site. If you are unsure what all this means or are still unsure how to proceed, please ask!
In a sentence, Westlinks Online provides online services to people and organizations to help them run their business more efficiently.
Basically, we install and configure web applications for you on dedicated cloud servers so you can focus on your business and not on the technology (aka headaches) it takes to get up and running.
A typical order takes 3 steps:
You're ready to go.
